I've played the game so many times I think I can remember all the time it plays.

Were you able to fight penance ?
I think you had to kill all the dark aeons , not sure...i used yojimbo and gave him a certain amount of money so he could do the insta kill skill

Yeah I killed Penance. After my save file had like 200 hours on it. where's that feelsbad meme. its okay though it took me like 7 years to do it lol.

Only way to kill him is to get your luck really high.
To raise your luck you need fortune spheres.
To get fortune spheres you gotta kill Earth Eater.
Earth Eater counter attacks EVERY time.

I think I spent like 150 hours in the monster arena. After a while you get Wakka's attack reels every time cause its the only way to kill things quickly.

Ugh , my save file , i was still getting my main char's to 99k damage , and i still had to complete the monster arena...i spent a lot of hours playing blitzball LMFAO

Wish I had a ps4 I'm gonna get one for the FF7 remake, but I got FFX for the PS3, and they f*cked up the soundtrack. But on the PS4 version you can choose which OST you want (old or remastered).
