I seem to be having this problem with most renewal servers (of which I have tried many). I log on just find, I can play just fine for about 15 to 20 minutes, then boom, massive lag spike freezes the game and I have to log out and back on again to play. Like clock work. I dont have this issue on pre-renewal servers. I have windows 10 btw and a spanking brand new computer, so I know its not me. BUT I want to find a fix to this problem. Any suggestions?
Is it graphics lag (Your whole computer is lagging) or server lag? (only the client is spiking)
If you are experiencing graphics lag, then try to lower your game resolution.
and if you are experiencing server lag/client window is spiking, try lowering your resolution too and try playing with the compatibility method and run as an admin.

Something i noticed during the event earlier today was that i experience significantly more lag when i am full screen compared to windowed. I assume its not your hardware's limitations due to your computer being "brand spanking new," so I'm inclined to think that running the game at a lower resolution and keep the game windowed should improve your issue. We live relatively close to each other (the same continent anyway) so i dont think the host is the issue as we would both theoretically experience a similar amount of lag if that was the cause. Hope this helps 
The lag is contained to the server itself. The rest of my pc is fine. I tried your suggestions, no change. I still lag out after 20 minutes.
1024x768x32 atm BUT I have tried playing around with this too, making it both smaller and bigger. I've tried turning off the the fog, the lightmap, the trilinear filter and play in full mode. I've even tried turning down the quality of the graphics.
